Bodie Hills State Park from Bodie Mt.

Bodie Hills State Park is a  gold mining ghost town which was a boom town with 10,000 residents in 1879.   Today tourists can walk the town streets, peek into windows of abandoned buildings, and take a tour of the Standard Co. Mine.  Everything is as it was when the town was abandoned c. 1942.  It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961.  The remaining buildings are preserved in a state of arrested decay.
